Why we need your support
Roses in the Ocean was founded in 2011 and until January 2018, relied completely on a volunteer workforce and the generous donations of people throughout the country and those attending our annual fundraising events. In January 2018, we were provided with a some infrastructure funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health, through the National Suicide Prevention Leadership and Support Program which has enabled our organisation to employ some key staff. We are still largely dependent upon donations and our ability to generate fee for service work to provide the national role of the lead Lived Experience organisation in Australia.

Our philosophy regarding donated funds
Roses in the Ocean remains true to our grassroots. We exist to save lives and reduce emotional pain and are committed to ensuring that funds donated to us are 100% utilised to deliver our services back into the community, and wherever possible, back into the communities from which the funds have arisen.
Donations that we receive through fun run hero pages and the like are collectively used for a range of activities including reaching out into communities throughout the country, enabling people with a lived experience of suicide to attend training or Lived Experience events when they would otherwise be unable to do so. In short, all donations are used to build the capacity of people with a lived experience of suicide to play an active role in suicide prevention within their local communities.
Our Public Gift Fund
All donations are received into the Roses in the Ocean Public Gift Fund.
Roses in the Ocean is a Public Company Limited by Guarantee. It is listed on the Harm Prevention Charities Register and has full DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) Status (Level 1) with the ATO, with all donations over $2 tax deductible. It is registered under the Corporations Act 2001. Roses in the Ocean is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
