Due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Roses in the Ocean has postponed the Lived Experience of Suicide Summit 2020 until May 2021.

While this has been a difficult decision, we take our social responsibility role very seriously and feel it would be irresponsible to hold such an event at this time.

We have already reached out via email to our wonderful sponsors and will be contacting everyone this week who has applied for a bursary.

All those who have registered for the event already will receive a full refund.

I trust you understand and appreciate this decision.

Browen Edwards, CEO

Following the success of our inaugural Lived Experience Summit in 2018 this inspiring event returns in 2020.  Join us in Melbourne from 13-15 May to collaboratively work on new and existing projects and research initiatives, contribute to the ongoing evolution of lived experience, join in robust discussions and develop your skills.

The Lived Experience of Suicide Summit 2020 will create an innovative, interactive, workshop-style forum where people with a lived experience of suicide, sector organisations, corporate organisations and government will stand shoulder-to-shoulder to find new ways of reducing emotional pain and distress, and saving lives.

The five key focus areas of the Summit represent significant areas of opportunity for lived experience insights, perspectives and expertise to enhance, inform and influence the way we approach suicide prevention in Australia.

  • Workforce development
  • Clinical and non-clinical intersections
  • Workplaces
  • Health and Community Services
  • Research

These key focus areas align strongly with the vision and outcomes of the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan and are consistent with current state and territory commitments and strategic planning.

We invite you to submit suggestions for workshops that you would participate in, or projects that your organisation would like to workshop with people with lived experience.

Workshop ideas should align with one or more of the five key focus areas and could be:

hands on and interactive

a project requiring lived experience input with potential for ongoing involvement

focused on professional or personal development for people with lived experience

workplace related where lived experience is integral to the outcome

an area interest in your community

What would you like to know more about; learn how to do; participant in; or contribute to?
