Due to the ongoing risks and impacts of COVID-19, Roses in the Ocean has postponed the Lived Experience of Suicide Summit 2020 until May 2021.
While this has been a difficult decision, we take our social responsibility role very seriously and the safety and wellbeing of our community will always be paramount.
We have reached out via email to our wonderful sponsors and will be contacting all bursary applicants this week. All those who have registered for the event will be contacted by DC Conferences to arrange a refund.

Through the support of our many sponsors we are pleased to offer a number of bursaries for people with a lived experience of suicide to attend the Lived Experience of Suicide Summit 2020, where you may not have otherwise been able to attend.
What do the Bursaries cover?
You can apply for a bursary to cover return flights to Melbourne, accommodation on 13 and 14 May 2020, SUMMIT 2020 registration for 2 days, or a combination of these. It would be appreciated if you are able to cover any of these costs, as this enables Roses in the Ocean to extend bursaries to more individuals.
What is not covered by the bursaries?
Bursaries do not cover expenses for food, (beyond what is provided as part of SUMMIT 2020), transfers (travel between airport, accommodation and venue) or personal expenses, mini-bar, etc.
The workshops on the pre-Summit Workshop Day (Wednesday 13 May 2020) are optional and are not able to be offered as part of the bursary package.
How does Roses in the Ocean decide who receives a bursary?
Roses in the Ocean will look to distribute the bursaries in a manner that supports national representation and diversity of those with a lived experience of suicide.
As there will be a limited amount of bursary funds available, a set of criteria (see below) has been established to help Roses in the Ocean decide who will receive a bursary.
The decision on who is to receive bursaries will be made by Roses in the Ocean. Decisions will be final and reasons will be confidential.
demonstrate why they would be unable to attend without a bursary; and
be aged 18 years or older (unless accompanied by parent/guardian).
Bursary recipients will need to
attend both days of SUMMIT 2020 (14 – 15 May 2020) with a goal to interacting and engaging in workshops and with other event attendees
complete the survey at the conclusion of SUMMIT 2020.
How to apply for a bursary?
To apply for a bursary, you will need to complete the application in full.
The final date for bursary application submissions is 29 February 2020 and all applicants will be advised by email or telephone of the outcome of their application by 13 March 2020.
If you are applying for a Bursary, please do not complete registration until the applications have been processed and you have been advised on the outcome.
It is important that you are ready to be involved in the Lived Experience of Suicide Summit and that your involvement is a rewarding and positive experience. It is without question difficult to talk about suicide when it has and does impact your life so profoundly and to help you assess your personal readiness to participate, we have included links to the following documents for you to read prior to completing your application.
