Resources for LGBTQI Community

SUICIDE DOESN’T DISCRIMINATE AND NEITHER DO WE.

At Roses in the Ocean we celebrate the complex diversity of humanity.

We are fully committed to creating a welcoming, supportive and safe environment that is inclusive of all races, genders, ages, sexualities, cultures, religions, politics and lifestyles.

Welcome – you belong here.

STEMMING THE TIDE OF LGBTQI+ SUICIDE

At Roses in the Ocean, we know that people with a lived experience of suicide bring insight, wisdom and perspective that is critical to informing the best approaches to reducing emotional distress and pain and saving lives. And that people who have experienced suicidal thoughts, been through suicidal crisis, or made an attempt on their life are best placed to inform how we can best support others in crisis.

LGBTQIA+ ATTEMPT SURVIVOR ACTION GROUP

Roses in the Ocean is proud to announce the establishment of a new national LGBTQIA+ Attempt Survivor Action Group for people who have a lived experience of suicide attempts.

The group comprises a diverse range of people from across Australia who bring their lived experience of suicide attempts to the forefront of conversations and activities relating specifically to LGBTQIA+ communities and more broadly to all suicide prevention initiatives.

The increased visibility, voices and insights from people who possess the intersectionality of being both a suicide attempt survivor and a member of LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia is very much needed.  The insights gained from people with lived experience of suicide attempt will contribute to informing how we can collectively amplify the voices of LGBTQIA+ attempt survivors and contribute these important perspectives to all Roses in the Ocean activity.

Meet the foundation members of the Action Group here and watch a webinar of their first open discussion here.

LIVED EXPERIENCE RESOURCES

Roses in the Ocean is working with members of our lived experience collective, the LGBTQI+ community  and industry colleagues to create resources for individuals who are or have experienced suicidal crisis or made an attempt on their life.

Alongside online resources such as fact sheets and information guides, Roses in the Ocean brings the voice of lived experience to suicide prevention activities by way of inspiring and informative interviews and podcasts with members of our lived experience collective.
