Co-Design – NSW Post Suicide Support Services

Whole of Community Postvention Support Services across all of NSW

StandBy – Support After Suicide will lead the NSW Post Suicide Support initiative (NSW PSS), a NSW Ministry of Health Towards Zero Suicides initiative, in partnership with Jesuit Social Services, Roses in the Ocean and the University of New England.

The NSW PSS will use a consortium approach to provide whole of community postvention support services across all of NSW to support anyone bereaved or impacted by suicide. The four project partners will develop the service model based on their collective experience and by harnessing existing local services.

The initiative will establish new support services for individuals and communities who are bereaved and impacted by suicide. NSW state-wide coverage will be achieved through the NSW PSS alongside the Commonwealth funded StandBy program.

Co-Design of the NSW Post Suicide Support Service

Roses in the Ocean is leading the co-design process for the new services through a combination of statewide and local co-design sessions. The statewide co-design was completed in March 2021 involving people with a lived experience of suicide bereavement and postvention workers from a variety of services and independent peer workers.

The local face-to-face co-design sessions were held in May 2021 across five areas (Sydney, Richmond, Campbelltown, Batemans Bay and Wollongong). The Feedback Loop for these sessions is now live and can be accessed below. Your input and feedback are incredibly valuable, and we strongly encourage you to have your say in the final pieces of this project.
