People with lived experience of suicide are invited to participate in a national co-design project.

Through both face-to-face and online co-design sessions you will collectively develop best practice principles and service model guidelines for the development and strengthening of services for people experiencing emotional distress/crisis, following a suicide attempt, and for people bereaved through suicide.

The Commonwealth Government Department of Health, in partnership with Roses in the Ocean and Folk, are seeking your wisdom and knowledge through your lived experience of suicide to inform the:

  • design of national best practice aftercare guidelines that can be used to inform the development of local services to meet the needs of diverse communities across Australia
  • strengthening of national postvention services to ensure national best practice postvention guidelines to meet the needs of diverse communities across Australia
  • development of national Distress Brief Support Model for trial, including principles, training and operating guidance

*Your wisdom and contribution to this project is most valued, and you will be compensated at $430 for full day Face to Face sessions. There also will be compensation for online sessions at $258 per session.

Payment, in the form that suits your circumstances, will be administered by Folk and will be arranged following each session.

Please note, co-design discussions will occur with community-led organisations and the suicide prevention sector separately. Details on this aspect of the process will be released soon.

In order to provide a safe and supportive environment for participants, all sessions are delivered by two facilitators with a personal lived experience of suicide and have scheduled breaks. Please scroll to the bottom of the page for more information about deciding whether you are ready to participate in this project.
