About the role
Reporting to the General Manager of Service Delivery, this role is responsible for contributing to content development and facilitating Peer CARE Companion workshops, peer mentoring, group co-reflection sessions and communities of practice sessions as required to meet supply demands. This dynamic role offers support to develop the expanding volunteer Peer CARE Companion workforce who provide non-clinical, ‘light touch’, in community peer support for individuals and communities impacted by emotional distress and suicide.
Some essentials
- A lived experience of suicide and an understanding of the impact it has on families, workplaces, friends and communities.
- Demonstrated experience in formal Peer Worker position/s, including peer mentoring (desirable) with a strong understanding and commitment to peer work in Suicide Prevention.
- Group facilitation skills and experience.
- Must be able to work flexible times including regular evenings and weekends to support scheduling of workshops.
- Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and professional standards of behaviour in sensitive circumstances.
- High-level written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively at all levels, both internally and externally.
