Collective Voices | Suicide Attempt Survivors with Kim
Representing the countless voices and experiences through stories and insights from suicide attempt survivors and their intersecting experiences.
“Because I’d not been heard by the people that are supposed to hear, the people that you believe, you’re taught that it’s your family that are supposed to know those things, your family and friends are supposed to see, supposed to hear, supposed to know, and those people didn’t see, didn’t hear, didn’t know, so I didn’t reach out because those people didn’t reach in, I guess..They didn’t hear me.” – After an accident left her coping with chronic pain, Kim made an attempt on her life. She did eventually reach out for support and found a nurse that took the time to hear and listen. She realised how important this was, and what she has done in her life since is a reflection of that experience, including founding a charity – The Purple Bucket Foundation.
