There are so many ways to bring your lived experience expertise to suicide prevention
Lived experience of suicide is central to all aspects of suicide prevention. All of us bring our unique lived experience coupled with others skills and experience we have gathered through our life and work. Deciding how you would like to pull all your skills together and contribute to suicide prevention can be a little daunting, and there are so many considerations when making your decision.
The table below (soon to be interactive!) aims to provide some guidance as to the types of opportunities and careers that are available, and where Roses in the Ocean offers training and support to help you get where you want to go.
This table is by no means exhaustive and there will be lots of other opportunities in your local communities, regions and nationally. However, these do constitute a lot of the foundational roles that you can then make your own, combine and continue to develop your lived experience into a deep and diverse lived expertise that can be applied across a range of contexts from speaking engagements, advisory groups and research, to strategic planning, data analysis, policy and system reform.
We will continue to develop more training and resources, and link you through to other organisations that offer other skill development training to compliment what we offer. Happy exploring – we look forward to being able to support your find you unique place.
