SUICIDE DOESN’T DISCRIMINATE AND NEITHER DO WE.
At Roses in the Ocean we celebrate the complex diversity of humanity.
We are fully committed to creating a welcoming, supportive and safe environment that is inclusive of all races, genders, ages, sexualities, cultures, religions, politics and lifestyles.
Welcome – you belong here.
STEMMING THE TIDE OF LGBTQI+ SUICIDE
Have you lost someone to suicide? Cared for someone in crisis? Or had your own thoughts of suicide?
At Roses in the Ocean we know that individuals who have experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, cared for loved ones through crisis, or been bereaved through suicide, can provide powerful insights and opportunities to inform, influence and enhance suicide prevention activities in communities, workplaces and other organisations.
We also know that the LGBTQI+ community are overrepresented when it comes to suicide.
To find out more about stemming the tide of LGBTQI+ suicide, check out our Valentine’s Day afternoon tea below.
VALENTINE’S DAY AFTERNOON TEA
On a day when many across the globe celebrate romantic love, we’re inviting LGBTQI+ individuals with a lived experience of suicide to spend a few hours with each other to find out how Roses in the Ocean is working to reduce emotional pain and distress and save lives.
We want to talk with you about how we can help the community and we’ll also share how you can get involved in suicide prevention among your friends, in your workplace and within your communities.
The afternoon is strictly NSA – it’s your choice – listen and learn or stay and play – dip your toe in or aspire to full immersion – all we ask is that you bring an open mind, a compassionate heart and a little of that Valentine’s love.
When Friday 14 February 2020 2.30pm to 4pm
